Pakistani bureaucrat caught on camera stealing Kuwaiti delegate’s wallet

According to Pakistani newspaper Dawn, the theft was committed by a grade-20 officer of the Pakistan Administrative Services Group, deployed at the finance ministry.

A Pakistani bureaucrat was caught on camera stealing a wallet at a high-level delegation meeting. According to a report by Dawn, the Grade 20 officer stole the wallet of a member of the Kuwaiti delegation which visited the country to discuss investment plans in Pakistan. The embarrassing act caught on CCTV camera at the Finance Ministry. It quickly went viral on Reddit and on Twitter.

According to Pakistani newspaper Dawn, the theft was committed by a grade-20 officer of the Pakistan Administrative Services Group, deployed at the finance ministry. News channel Samaa.tv identified the official as joint investment and facilitation secretary, Zarar Haider Khan, attending the two-day Pakistan-Kuwait Joint Ministerial Commission meeting.

The disgraced officer had caused embarrassment to the country after being caught on closed-circuit TV (CCTV) camera stealing a foreign dignitary’s wallet and pocketing it. The dignitary was a member of the Kuwaiti delegation which was visiting the country to discuss investment plans in Pakistan.

Sources said the theft was caught on CCTV after members of the Kuwaiti delegation lodged a strong protest.
