Four J&K Cops Shot Dead in Encounter With Terrorists in Shopian

Four policemen were killed on Wednesday, 29 August, in a terrorist attack in the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir, police told PTI.


In a tragic, infuriating and violent act of terrorism, four police officials and a driver have been martyred near Arhama at Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian.

The four police officials, including one SPO, were repairing their vehicle when they came under attack by terrorists. The terrorists decamped with their rifles, viz. 4 AK-47s.

The attack on the police party came after two Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists, including Altaf Ahmed Dar alias Altaf Kachroo, one of the oldest surviving terrorist, were killed in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
The deceased were identified as Constable Ishfaq Ahmad Mir, Constable Javaid Ahmad Bhat, Constable Mohammad Iqbal Mir, and Special Police Officers Adil Manzoor Bhat.

Following the death of the four policemen, Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) SP Vaid and Inspector General of Kashmir police, SP Pani paid tribute to the deceased during the wreath-laying ceremony.
